Our year at Elkanah House has started with the notification of very pleasing Grade 12 results from the class of 2023!

We had a 100% pass rate, (The IEB National Average is 98.46%) and all of our students are able to enter Tertiary Institutions, with 96.38% achieving a Bachelor Degree pass, and 3,62% achieving Diploma Pass! It has been inspiring to once again see that if a student is set a challenge they will rise to that challenge and often even exceed expectations! This is a quality that will stand them in good stead and ensure a smooth transition into tertiary education.

What was also amazing in our results is that we had 4 students who were in the
Top 1% nationally for a particular subject. This achievement was seen in Afrikaans First Additional Language, English Home Language (2 Students), Mathematical Literacy, and Spanish Second Additional Language.

Well done to the class of 2023!!

As many of you know, a Growth Mindset is a big focus for an Elkanah House education. An easy way to explain the concept is to compare the brain to a muscle.

As a parent, you may think ‘Maths Lit’ is the equivalent of Standard Grade maths from back in the day when you were at school. However, the truth is that Maths Lit is not Standard Grade maths – in fact it’s very different. Here’s what you need to know.

Elkanah House has had such an overwhelming response to our Winter Warmth Drive that we will be continuing with the collection for the rest of July. There is such a dire need for Winter Warmth in our community, so if you can, please help donate warm blankets or clothes so that everyone can feel the “Madiba Warmth” this winter. We will be donating these care packages to the patients admitted to the Hospital of Hope intermediate care facilities, CTICC as well as Brackengate. #LovingBeyondSelf #TheElkanahWay #LiveLoveLearn
